AMBITIOUS’ plans to create Tebay-style motorway services with a farm shop, kitchen and 100-room hotel have drawn mixed reactions.

The proposal to build Tatton Services between Junctions 7 and 8 on the M56 was submitted to Cheshire East Council in March and attracted widespread comment.

The concept is based on the success of Tebay Services on M6 which promotes local food, crafts and clothing.

The Westmorland family have a strong track record of supporting local growers and have partnered with the Tatton Estate to bring their model to Cheshire.

The development has won accolades for showcasing local growers and suppliers, supporting the economy and creating hundreds of new jobs.

However, residents called it an “environmental disaster” due to the loss of the “old green belt” and increased noise, pollution and traffic.

Businesses fear this could threaten nearby shopping malls and believe that existing service stations already provide sufficient facilities for drivers.

The National Trust and Historic England are supporting the bid.

A National Trust spokesperson said: ‘We consider the proposed development to be well designed and welcome the approach to sustainable building design, the net biodiversity gain and the stated intention to work with trust and other parties in the development of a sustainable transport network. .

“We note the intention to focus on local suppliers and employment and welcome that.”

Cheshire business leaders are supportive of the proposal, saying ‘its engineering and design was favorable to the local environment’.

They believe the development would ‘provide important local jobs’ and ‘enhance Cheshire’s national appeal’.

Cheshire Country Lane and Business Association hailed the creation of 325 jobs.

A spokesperson said: “Tatton Services will provide essential economic oxygen to the region when boosting economic prosperity is vital.

“Schools will have a better understanding of the ‘farm to fork’ philosophy.”

Cllr Charlotte Leach, who represents Mobberley, said: ‘This development would create new jobs, support local businesses and bring real economic and social benefits to the area.

A resident said, “I’m a big fan of Tebay’s philosophy. They only use local suppliers ranging from the food they sell and serve to the interiors of their hotel.

“I’ve visited three of their motorway developments and wish all the service stations were so carefully designed with sustainability in mind.”

However, Moto Hospitality, which owns and operates Knutsford Services, say the new development is too close to their facilities on the M6 and Lymm Services on the M56/M6.

Their objection states: “Tatton would not fill any significant supply gaps.

High Legh Primary School is concerned about increased traffic and air pollution, which it says will ‘further harm the health of residents and schoolchildren’.

Cheshire Wildlife Trust opposes the plans and says there is insufficient evidence to support the applicant’s calculated net biodiversity gain assessment.

High Legh Parish Council is concerned about the ‘very considerable loss of green belt land’. Their objection is: ‘We believe this development would create a destination in its own right and not just be a stop for motorway users to refuel and rest.

“It would have a negative impact on traffic.”

Furious residents are worried about the impact the development could have on the local community.

One opponent said: ‘It will be an environmental disaster and will increase the urbanization of Altrincham.

Another resident added: “The huge increase in traffic would make traveling around the area very dangerous while the pollution and damage to natural habitats would be enormous.”

Another objector said: ‘I am not a political person or a drummer, but I know when something is wrong and this planned development seems to be a pure example of commercialism and profiteering rather than common sense.

“Millions have been pumped into the regeneration of Altrincham and it’s working. So why now drag trade and workers out of town again.

One local said: ‘Cheshire was known for its beautiful green belt.

“Everywhere you look factories are being built along the M56.”

A date has not yet been set for a decision.

Dry cleaning services – your rights and responsibilities as a consumer https://fairviewofminot.com/dry-cleaning-services-your-rights-and-responsibilities-as-a-consumer/ Sun, 25 Sep 2022 05:00:00 +0000 https://fairviewofminot.com/dry-cleaning-services-your-rights-and-responsibilities-as-a-consumer/ Dry cleaning services should be provided with reasonable care and professional skill. Dry cleaning services should be provided with reasonable care and professional skill. This means that clothes that consumers donate to dry cleaners must be cleaned as agreed in the sales contract and must not be damaged.

If there is a problem with the dry cleaning service, consumers can seek redress or compensation for losses incurred.

Sometimes clothes are damaged during the dry cleaning process, and some dry cleaners claim they are not legally liable for this damage. They even include a waiver in their terms and conditions and require their customers to sign it.

Some dry cleaners also hang signs in their outlets stating this. However, these policies or contract terms are considered unfair and are not legally binding. In fact, consumers have the right to seek redress from dry cleaners if their items are damaged or improperly cleaned.

In the case of damaged items, the amount of compensation usually depends on the value of the item and whether it can still be used by the consumer. Consumers should also keep in mind the age of the item and then estimate its current value.

For example, if the damaged garment is a five-year-old jacket, consumers cannot request a full refund of the original amount paid. Such compensation would only be justified if the damaged object was still relatively new. In this case, it would be very helpful for consumers to provide proof of the price of the item and the date it was purchased.

There may be situations where the damaged garment can be repaired and returned to the same condition it was before the dry cleaning process. In this case, the remedy to which consumers are entitled to claim is free repair and not financial compensation.

Sometimes damage is not directly caused by dry cleaning, but is the result of a manufacturing defect in the item or improper cleaning instructions on the item’s care label. In this case, if the product is still covered by a valid guarantee, the consumer must file a complaint with the merchant from whom he purchased the product.

If consumers are unhappy with the dry cleaning service, they should immediately notify the company and request that the item be cleaned again at no additional cost. If the dry cleaner again fails to clean the product in accordance with the sales contract, then consumers can request reimbursement of the price paid for the dry cleaning.

Compensation can also be claimed in the event of loss of an object. Even then, the amount claimed should be based on the current value of the lost item, not its original cost. Usually the amount of compensation has to be negotiated with the dry cleaner.

Dry cleaners, however, are not liable for damage to clothing that consumers have been clearly warned about and have voluntarily taken the risk. Nevertheless, it is important that whenever such risks exist, consumers are informed verbally and in writing.

In addition to rights, consumers also have responsibilities. Dry-cleaned garments should be carefully inspected on collection and any issues should be reported to the company immediately. Failure to do so may result in diminished consumer rights.

If there is a problem, consumers should first contact the dry cleaning company and ask for a reasonable solution.

If the company denies any liability or if the level of compensation offered is insufficient, consumers can lodge a formal complaint with the Consumer Affairs Office to try to reach an amicable agreement through the procedure conciliation of the office.

SOUTH BEND — Whole Woman’s Health Clinic, the only abortion provider in Michiana, said it would work to resume offering medical abortions after Indiana’s law banning nearly all abortions was temporarily halted by a judge on Thursday.

The decision came in response to a lawsuit filed in August by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana and joined by Whole Woman’s Health Alliance, Planned Parenthood of Indiana and other abortion and healthcare service providers. .

WWHA’s Midwest Advocacy director Sharon Lau told The Tribune it was unclear when the clinic could resume abortion services. Unlike Planned Parenthood clinics in Indiana, including one in Merrillville, which plan to begin serving patients immediately, Whole Woman’s Health is understaffed.

“Because we had to reduce our staff and doctors, we cannot resume immediately,” Lau said. “But we will work to resume as soon as possible.”

  • Internet Connectivity Solution Brings Higher Speed and More Reliable Broadband to Otoe-Missouria Tribal Community
  • Benefits businesses, schools, health services and overall residential quality of life on the reserve

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 21, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — GTT Communications, Inc., one of the world’s leading providers of managed network and security services to multinational organizations, and Caliber Financial Services, a fully tribal chartered company owned by the Otoe-Missouria Indian Tribe has partnered to bring high-speed internet to the Otoe-Missouria Reservation. This high-speed connectivity solution will improve the quality of Internet services for families and businesses located in and around the Otoe-Missouria Reservation in rural North Central Oklahoma.

“The pandemic has reinforced the urgent need to bridge the digital divide that many Native American tribes face,” said Otoe-Missouria Tribal President John Shotton. “We are grateful for the partnership between Caliber and GTT to help improve the quality of life for the people of Otoe-Missouria and drive economic development for years to come. Broadband services are a vital lifeline for our schools, businesses, health services and all other aspects of community life that rely on modern telecommunications infrastructure.

“We are very pleased that our partnership with GTT allows us to bring enhanced connectivity to Caliber Financial Services while also serving the Otoe-Missouria community as a whole,” said Doug Oliveira, Chief Technology Officer at Caliber Financial Services. “We selected GTT not only for its extensive Internet infrastructure and excellent track record as a provider of high-speed connectivity solutions, but the GTT team has demonstrated exceptional passion and dedication to supporting this type of broadband development project. We are proud that Caliber, as a Tribal Chartered Company wholly owned by the Otoe-Missouria Tribe, has self-funded an infrastructure project with such tremendous benefits for the Otoe-Missouria community.

“GTT is honored to partner with Caliber to bring faster, more reliable Internet services to the Otoe-Missouria community while providing more resilient connectivity to mission-critical data centers and cloud resources,” said Jim Delis, President. of the GTT, Americas division. “We understand the importance of modern broadband infrastructure to participate in the digital economy and keep our communities connected and thriving. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with Caliber, and are passionately committed to pursuing other opportunities to help improve broadband in Indian Country.

A study published by the American Indian Policy Institute in 2019 estimated that 18% of tribal reservation residents lack internet access, while 33% rely on smartphones for internet service. This is largely the result of the fact that most reservations have been established in remote locations with very limited infrastructure.

GTT’s connectivity solution includes a 10G Ethernet point-to-point circuit, linking Caliber’s data center located in Red Rock, Oklahoma, with its data center in Kansas City, Missouri. The solution also includes a dedicated 10G internet circuit connecting the Red Rock data center to GTT’s global Tier 1 IP network, which also provides direct connections to major cloud service providers.

Additionally, GTT deployed a dedicated 10G internet circuit at the Red Rock data center to connect a newly installed tower providing Wi-Fi access to users on the Otoe-Missouria reservation. The new Wi-Fi Tower footprint upgrades the broadband infrastructure serving the Otoe-Missouria community, allowing businesses to connect faster to their customers and suppliers and allowing students to connect to the Internet and the cloud from more reliable and secure way.

Certain certificate holders challenged the distribution of more than $600 million of the $5.3 billion in total sale proceeds for default interest paid to the special manager, arguing that the distribution constituted what the t is called the proceeds of the “gain on sale”, which should have been distributed for the benefit of the certificate holders. Services for Kenneth Wade Welborn will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Central Funeral Home on Hooper Rd. followed by service until 1:00 p.m. A procession will immediately follow at Resthaven Cemetery on Jefferson Hwy. in Baton Rouge.

Welborn died suddenly on September 13 after finishing qualifying at the Baton Rouge shooting range. Officials said he had a massive heart attack while driving.

OBITUARY:

Loving and beloved father, brother and son, Kenneth Wade Welborn passed away suddenly on September 13, 2022 at the age of 63. Wade retired as Captain of the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office in 2009 after 31 years of hard service. After joining the Bureau in 1978, he served as a uniformed patrolman, central substation commander, and liaison with the district attorney’s office. Wade had the honor of graduating from the 207th Session of the FBI National Academy and has completed several other courses and programs over the years, including the LSU Law Enforcement Academy and Institute. In the years following his retirement, he was part of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture security team, proud to work with his brother (Jimmy) and father, who had been responsible for creating him several years earlier.

A 1977 graduate of Central High School and an accomplished athlete, Wade was among the first to be selected to an All-American football team. He was an avid follower of his family’s tradition as he appreciated and loved history, with a particular fondness for that of law enforcement. Absorbing lessons and stories from his father and other veteran officers, he often spoke vividly of events he would have been too young to experience when they happened. Wade was a member of Central Masonic Lodge #442 and was also a board member of the Amite River Basin Water Conservation and Drainage Project. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the FBI Academy Association, the Louisiana Peace Officers Association, the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association, and the Central Rotary Club. He was named Peace Maker of the Year by the Lions Club in 1988.

Throughout his years in law enforcement and beyond, Wade was liked and respected by everyone he worked with, from his own agency and so many others. For those who knew him more closely, he was loved from afar for his devotion to his family and friends, his strength of character and his good humor. A solid anchor, a loyal lawyer, a voice of reason, the life of the party – Wade was all of these and more. While the nature of his work sometimes demanded a pragmatic approach, he was best known for his room-brightening smile, caring nature and kind heart. Above all, he enjoyed the simpler things in life, like having a cup of coffee and a cookie, sitting on the back porch with his beloved dog, Sadie Mae, and son, Blake.

Still to be cherished in Wade’s memory are his son Blake Welborn, his pride and joy since the day he was born; mother Anna Mae Welborn; brothers John “Coker” Welborn, Jr., Doug Welborn and Jimmy Welborn (wife Tammy). He is also survived by his nieces Erica Welborn Malone (husband Ryan), Lindsey Welborn, Skylar Welborn and Piper Welborn; nephew Colby Welborn; great nephew Gabriel Malone; great-nieces Dulcie and Juniper Malone and many cousins. Awaiting Wade in Heaven are his father, John Welborn, Sr.; brother Billy Welborn; sister Darlene Anne, who entered the world with Billy and Jimmy and preceded him after only three hours on earth; and great-nieces and nephews Ryan, Landen and Lauren Welborn and Joseph “Little Joe” Malone.

Although he left us far too soon, Wade leaves behind wonderful moments to remember, stories to tell and strong examples to follow until his final reunion with his family and friends in paradise.

WOODSTOCK, Va. (WHSV) – September is recognized as National Suicide Prevention Month. The North West Community Services Council, with the help of other organizations, will launch a motorcycle ride for suicide prevention this Sunday.

The ride will begin at the Front Royal Moose Lodge on John Marshall Road in Woodstock. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with crutches at 10:30 a.m. It costs $20 per bike, with all proceeds going to Concern Hotline.

Here are the numbers by county to reach the Concern Hotline:

  • Clarke, Frederick, Winchester County 540-667-0145
  • Shenandoah Co. 540-459-4742
  • Page Co. 540-743-3733

This hotline offers crisis intervention and suicide prevention services. If you are outside this area, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.

Corialise Pence of the Community Services Board said in recent years that suicide was widespread in the area, especially among young people.

“It has become a national epidemic where people no longer see the hope that they had been, especially thanks to COVID. We just want to make sure people know there are resources out there and they’re not alone and they always have someone to turn to,” Pence explained.

You can get a scripted patch, t-shirt and wristband, while supplies last. Runners start in Warren County and then finish in Page County. There will be food and water stops along the way. The ride ends at Luray High School Bulldog Stadium.

If you don’t ride a motorcycle, but want to show your support, there will be other suicide prevention and awareness events in the area.

Ashley House in Grantham has closed during the pandemic to ‘boost’ other mental health services.

Lincolnshire County Council is now considering shifting its funding to a community rehabilitation service which could cover the whole county.

Ashley House (59293684)

A report to the Lincolnshire County Council’s Health Monitoring Committee recommends it in order to enable users to live more independently and closer to home.

The alternative option would require some patients currently being cared for at home to be readmitted.

Ashley House, off Beacon Lane, has 15 beds for people who are ‘at the end of their journey in hospital mental health care’.

The report adds: “The current interim way of working has demonstrated that community-based rehabilitation works well and is preferred by patients, service users and carers.

“With the staff resource linked to Ashley House being used to further strengthen the community rehab service, this would allow patients who are currently in high dependency rehab placements to be cared for in a less restrictive setting, including some people who are currently placed in locked rehab units outside Lincolnshire.

He acknowledges that the change would mean more travel for a small number, who would instead have to travel to the Maple Lodge center in Boston for treatment.

However, he says the change would provide better service to the majority.

Currently, community rehabilitation service is only available in one-third of the county. It was created in 2019 as part of a national pilot project.

The savings from closing Ashley House would allow it to be rolled out to the rest of Lincolnshire.

The meeting where it was to be discussed this week has been postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

What is your opinion of the country’s tourism industry?

Bangladeshis are adventurous and hence continue to explore whenever they get the chance.

Whether it’s a group or a single person, people are always eager to explore the unknown realms to see more and learn more.

That’s why traveling is part of our culture.

The tourism industry in our country contributes around 4.4% of the country’s GDP as people spare no expense when it comes to food and travel.

However, our tourist attractions are not fully utilized.

This is because the industry could not yet fully reap the benefits of digitalization.

With the onset of the pandemic, it has become more evident that people are increasingly turning to digital services.

Thus, the government and other stakeholders must work collaboratively to create an inclusive ecosystem based on the power of digitization and internet facilities.

With internet penetration increasing day by day in our country, it will now be easier to reach more travelers.

Our neighboring countries benefit from their tourism sector, which contributes significantly to the economic development of these respective countries.

At present, the digitalization of the tourism sector is of paramount importance and could help this industry to become a robust sector in the near future.

How do you view the online travel agency (OTA) segment?

When we talk about OTA, the first thing we need to consider is consumer behavior.

In this fast-paced world, consumer behavior is constantly changing and more and more travelers are planning their trips digitally.

For example, when planning a trip, what device do you use? Definitely, it’s your phone or your laptop.

People are less interested in going directly to agents these days.

According to research conducted by Statista, computers are now the most popular channel for travelers around the world when it comes to planning and booking vacation destinations.

This underscores the fact that travelers are now more open to the prospect of an online travel agency (OTA) when crafting their travel plan.

Thus, more and more travelers are interested in OTAs to benefit from travel-related services.

It is encouraging to see that the government as well as industry insiders are making efforts to help this segment grow.

With the easing of restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, where would you place the estimated number of Bangladeshis traveling abroad?

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there has been a huge drop in traveler numbers, both domestically and internationally.

However, things have started to turn the corner and travel restrictions have been eased in many countries.

Since the restrictions were lifted, we have seen that the number of travelers has increased almost 20 times.

Some people are still hesitant to travel abroad, but I hope the situation will improve very soon.

There is a good chance that outbound travel will increase in the coming days, which will help this industry to experience steady growth just like other industries.

The Minister of State for ICT Division, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, recently pointed out that only 20% of the country’s travel market has been explored, while the remaining 80% remains untapped. How can ShareTrip help?

We have a large potential tourism industry.

To tap into its full potential, we need to reach everyone, even someone in the farthest corner of the country.

ShareTrip is already working with the a2i project of the ICT division to empower the most remote regions of the country.

We want to make services related to domestic, inbound and outbound travel more accessible to everyone.

This is where Startup Bangladesh Limited’s investment in ShareTrip will play a major role.

In this regard, the development of travel knowledge is important because our potential customers must have the skills and knowledge to seek such services online.

ShareTrip tries to teach consumers how they can get more and more services from the comfort of their homes using their phones.

Tell us about the Startup Bangladesh investment you received recently.

Startup Bangladesh Limited, the flagship venture capital firm in the ICT division, recently invested in ShareTrip worth $50 million to bridge the gap between offline and online travel services.

We are the first travel technology company to be funded by government-backed venture capital.

ShareTrip, in line with Vision 2041, will strive to bridge the existing gap between offline and online travel services to create a holistic and inclusive travel ecosystem on the Internet.

To attract foreign investment, what do you think local startups should focus on?

Considering the global market, travel is a $7 trillion industry while this industry is expected to grow to a $7 trillion market size by 2023.

To reach this estimated growth point and grow further, startups need to attract foreign investment.

To attract investment, local startups need to focus on improving their product development, expansion and not to mention customer experience.

Satisfied customers will speak for you and help you grow your base.

Instead of always keeping your attention on glamorous ads and gimmicks, startups should set ambitious goals, work hard, and try to set the right standards while working towards the goal.

Through these, startups can portray themselves as long-term players in the ecosystem, moving towards sustainability and, ultimately, long-term profitability.

Such a practice will help develop a healthy ecosystem and once you have a robust ecosystem in place, more people will feel interested in investing in this industry.

What are ShareTrip’s future plans?

If I look at how we started our journey, no one believed that we could become the biggest OTA in the country.

Again, we have proven that your vision can come true if we work hard and follow the right path.

Today, we’re not only the largest OTA in the country, but we’ve also made our space one of the best in the total travel space.

Now we feel that just being in this position is not enough for us.

We don’t want to remain a dominant player in the ecosystem, rather we want to rise to a height where ShareTrip will be the first and only choice whenever anyone thinks of travelling.

To achieve this, we will work together with all other stakeholders, including our hotel partners, tour operators, airlines to name a few.

Helping the local hospitality industry grow is one of our top priorities right now as there is great potential for growth in this segment.

ShareTrip wants to help the local hospitality industry grow and reach its potential.

After conquering the local industry, we want to expand our operations globally, at the same time make inbound tourism more important and create a niche market for our tourism industry.

We want to bring the beauty of our country to the world stage and compete with other leading OTAs like Agoda and booking.com to offer the most convenient and lucrative travel solutions.

We already have a foot in the door and now we just need to step through it with the right strategy and confidence and explore the many opportunities that lie ahead.
