Leitrim GAA safety and facilities briefing on Monday April 4th

The Leitrim GAA Safety and Planning Committee will hold a special briefing seminar for all county clubs on Monday April 4th at the Bush Hotel at 8pm.

All clubs are invited to attend the seminar with information on the new roles of Safety and Facilities Manager and Training and Planning Manager, as well as information on best practices in several key areas, including ground health security, protection of association property, including title, guardianship, insurance and development of land and facilities, including funding available for club development.

As a number of important insurance issues were raised, the committee invited Sinead Leavy, Head of Risk and Insurance, Croke Park, to speak at the meeting. Connacht GAA’s John Prenty and Adrian Hassett, among others, will speak at the meeting.

The GAA Special Convention in November 2021 decided that due to the workload involved, the duties falling to the Board Development Committee would be shared by two separate committees – the Safety and Facilities Committee and the training and planning committee.

Leitrim GAA recently appointed former Connacht Council Chairman Gerry McGovern as Chief Safety and Facilities Officer and Chairman of the County Safety and Facilities Committee.

The role of the Safety and Facilities Committee is to provide advice and support to clubs and the Management and Finance Committee on best practices in several key areas including ground health safety, protection of club property association, including title, trusteeship, insurance and development. land and facilities, including funding available for club development.

It is envisaged that the leader and committee will partner with relevant staff at the provincial and central levels to implement association-wide policies at the local level. It will be a priority of the committee to ensure that the association’s assets are properly invested in accordance with Rule 5 of the official association guide, which will include the promotion of the GAA corporate director in accordance with national policy. , and that the charges on the property of the association, including mortgages, are properly executed

Other areas of the committee’s remit will be to provide advice and information on the development of grounds and facilities and to provide advice on access to funding such as Sports Capital Grants, SEAI, Leader Grants GAA and borrowing options.

As part of their ongoing work, the Safety and Facilities Committee will urge the Leitrim Co Board to consider the possibility of further facility development in the county, including upgrading facilities at Avant Money Pairc Sean Mac Diarmada, including providing an all-weather surface. , lighting and perimeter fencing.
