Planning for Newtown Bypass Services has not been submitted to Powys County Council
A planning application for a hotel, drive-thru cafe, petrol station and pub and restaurant near the Newtown Bypass has yet to be submitted to Powys County Council.
Shrewsbury-based developers Berrys said responses to a pre-planning consultation exercise are still under review.
The public had the opportunity to share their thoughts on the proposed retail development on land between Llanidloes Road roundabout and Glandulas Caravan Park, which includes a four-storey hotel and a two-storey pub and restaurant floors, during a pre-planning consultation that ended on Christmas Eve.

Proponents said the proposal would create “significant economic benefits” for the area, including employment opportunities, support for local businesses and increased visitor spending.
If given the green light by Powys County Council, it would be the first major development near the £71million Newtown Bypass since it opened in February 2019.
Last year, Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Council learned that a lack of hotels in the town was hampering opportunities to host live theater productions and international sporting events.
